June 2008
Thanks for taking the time to check out the latest news to learn all the exciting things that are happening in our lives!
We love to start our news out showcasing some of our work - we are currently in production on a television pilot titled
Poker Trips...and we have the first cut of the show intro - hot off the edit bay!
Click here to check it out and also browse our other recent work.
There is a TON of great stuff going on...we've had some awesome shoots lately with excellent folks...but the biggest news is that we are moving! You'll have to read more about it below...Also, read below about our recent Telly Award!
Moving On...
SIMZ is extremely excited about our recent move (June 1st!) to 2420 X Street in Sacramento, CA. For the last year, we have been in the heart of downtown Sacramento, but it's time for our own place. This new video and television studio is over 6,000 square feet and features two television studios, four edit suites, a theater viewing area, recreation area, kitchen, and more. We've been working hard along with our landlord to get the place move-in ready...and we're almost there! We still have lots of work to do to build out the studios, but we're looking forward to having additional space not only for the SIMZ crew, but also for our clients. This is going to be a state-of-the-art video and television production/post-production facility before the end of the year and a dynamite place to hang out. So stop by for a visit and look forward to an invite to our Open House - hopefully sometime in the fall. In the next few weeks we'll send an update with before and after pics!
Award Winners!
SIMZ was recently selected to win a Bronze award in the 29th Annual TELLY Awards! The award was given for their shooting and directing of a wine video produced for Christie Consulting on behalf of Topel Winery in Hopland, CA. The video was voice tracked by Jason Kuykendall, shot and edited by James Simmons, and written by George Christie. The video features beautiful footage of the Topel Winery and their fine wines. The video was originally created for a trip the Topels went on to China to market their wines...and we actually had to have the video translated and voiced in Mandarin. However, it was the English version that technically won the award. We hope to win many more awards in years to come!
Crush - Wine Country Television Series
SIMZ recently crewed on a 6-day shoot for a pilot television show, "Crush." The production company pitching the show, Twin Brain Productions, has produced some short films as well as a feature film recently and is working to build the film industry in beautiful Sonoma County. The premise of "Crush" is to feature three wine growers in Napa and Sonoma Counties and the challenges they face during the growing season. All of the reality-show "characters" were extremely generous, intriguing, and very patient with all of us and our gear invading their lives for a few days. We'll keep you posted if the show gets picked up!
